This web site is supplementary to the web site hosted by the Head quarters of the ITPI from New Delhi. We shall try to improve this further obtaining the comments and observations of the members.

Institute of Town Planners, India, (ITPI) the apex body of the Town Planners in India (ITPI), was constituted in the year 1951 to promote the planned development of the cities and the towns and to advance the studies of town planning in the country. It also organizes conferences etc for the exchange of views and sharing the knowledge and to foster the general awareness about the urban planning. The objectives of the ITPI includes promoting the general interests of those engaged in the practice in town & country planning and fostering the teaching of subjects related to town and country planning and assist in providing such teaching.
During 1985, Govt. of West Bengal had allotted a plot of land of about 412.38 sq. m. (6.0 Katha) at IB-190, Sector-III, Salt Lake, which came under possession of the Chapter during 1991. Construction of the chapter building was started in November 1993. West Bengal Regional Chapter was the 2nd in the Country to have its Chapter Building when the completed first phase of it was inaugurated on 10th April 1998. The final phase of construction of the building was completed in the year 2006.
